If you are unable to attend your appointment, please let the surgery know and try to cancel this with at least 48 hours notice so we can use the appointment.
Doctors’ Appointments are available to be booked face to face. Patients are also able to book their appointments online. See details for Online Appointments below.
All patients have the right to express a preference for a certain doctor when booking an appointment, but we encourage you to see the same doctor for the same problem where possible.
Urgent problems will be offered an appointment that day (this may be via a telephone consultation with the doctor first of all) – routine appointments with a doctor are usually available 24 hours in advance (maybe longer for specified doctor). Please let us know before 11.00 a.m. (except in an emergency), if you need a home visit, because you are too unwell to get to the surgery.
Telephone Consultations – Telephone consultations can be arranged with any doctor. Contact reception to ask for a telephone consultation. The doctor will telephone you when they are able to do so, but if it is an urgent request, the receptionist will allocate this telephone call to the on-call doctor. To help the doctor or nurse, please let the receptionist know why you need to speak with them, this will enable the doctor to deal with your call more effectively.
To do this we need to have up to date, accurate telephone numbers. Remember to tell the receptionist if you are not calling from your usual address and provide them with a contact number.
You may not receive a reply until the end of a morning or afternoon surgery, so it would be helpful if you could let the receptionist know if you are expecting an urgent reply – in this situation the receptionist may ask the on-call doctor, rather than the doctor of your choice, to return your call.
Register for Online Appointments/Repeat Prescriptions – This allows you to check for available appointment times and to make and cancel any appointments, therefore telephone calls to the surgery are not necessary. Repeat prescriptions can also be ordered without having to visit or telephone the surgery.
If you are interested in this service, please request a PIN and Access ID number from reception. Once you have been issued with these, you will need to register your account online. Instructions on how to do this can be viewed/downloaded by clicking here.
